		<description>I think it&#039;s more that the excellent Robert Donat stars in the original version.  Personally I&#039;d happily watch anything he&#039;s in.

Martin Clunes made a very good Mr Chips, much more personable and sympathetic.</description>

&lt;strong&gt;Ray&lt;/strong&gt;: I don&#039;t think it&#039;s &lt;em&gt;bad&lt;/em&gt;, but I do think the overwhelming reverence comes from it being 1) old and 2) about a subject that people think of fondly.

Thanks for the tip on the Masterpiece Theatre version. I&#039;ll have to check it out.</description>
